Leisure Activities

Sheffield has a thriving leisure culture.

The Lyceum Theatre, the Crucible Theatre and the Studio Theatre make up the largest theatre complex outside of London. There are also the Library Theatre, Lantern Theatre, The Montgomery and The University Drama Studio in the city. You will find a range of drama groups, dance classes and operatic societies in the leisure section of this directory.

Sheffield Doc/Fest brings the international documentary family together to celebrate the art and business of documentary making for five intense days in June.

Our Off the Shelf festival has grown into one of the largest literary festivals in the UK, attracting some of the best known names in literature and media to Sheffield each year. The festival programme is wide ranging and offers over 200 events for all ages.

Sheffield also has a vibrant music scene. Two of our biggest music festivals are Tramlines and Music in the Round. Music in the round also hosts a series of activities and concerts throughout the year. You will find a host of choirs, operatic societies and music groups in this section.

The impressive interactive museums and art galleries in the city, such as Weston Park, the Millennium Galleries, and the Graves Gallery host major exhibitions and are wonderful places to while away the hours.

See the Welcome to Sheffield website to find out what events are going on in the city.
