Buying a home

You can receive help to buy your own home through a Shared Ownership scheme.

Shared Ownership is where you buy a share of a property and rent the rest of it. This can sometimes be cheaper than renting from a private landlord. Shared Ownership does not mean you have to share your home with other people, unless you want to.

If you have a long-term disability, the HOLD scheme in England could help you buy a home for sale on a shared ownership basis.

More information about these affordable housing schemes is provided by the Government.

You can find homes for shared ownership on websites like Rightmove, Zoopla, and the Help to Buy website covering the North of England.
