      Sheaf Training Centre

      Sheaf Training Centre is a vibrant learning and training facility which meets the needs of young people with SEND focusing on developing skills for adulthood and employment. Students are aged between 16 and 25 years old and access our High Needs Study Programmes through their Education, Health and Care Plan. Referrals are made via the SEND Assessment and Placement Team. High Needs provision is delivered either on-site at Sheaf Training Centre or off-site on a programme where learning is supported through one of our partner providers.

      Supported Work Experience and Supported Internship - Project Choice

      Project Choice is a supported internship programme that enables those aged 16-24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan to gain work experience and develop employability skills, with the aim of supporting young people with learning difficulties, disabilities (LDD) and/or autism into sustainable employment. Participants spend a day a week in the classroom learning important work skills and developing their functional skills, and the rest of the week is spent on work placement. Interns complete up to three different placements across the academic year, giving them an insight into the variety of roles and departments available in the NHS, and are supported by mentors and where needed; job coaches. The programme is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and the Local Authorities.
