Peer Support groups, volunteering opportunities, prevention and awareness raising in the local community.
Local Stroke Support Groups:
Our Stroke clubs and groups provide essential long-term peer support to stroke survivors, carers, family and friends. They provide an opportunity for those who have been affected by stroke to rediscover previous skills, learn new skills, regain confidence, increase independence and socialise with other individuals who have had similar experiences. They provide a friendly environment where people affected by stroke can receive the information, support and help they need.
Prevention & awareness raising activities:
We promote Stroke awareness raising and prevention messages across Sheffield, offering free blood pressure testing, Stroke prevention talks and friendly advice & information. We are happy to support and attend community events, or deliver a session in your workplace. All our activities can be tailored to your organisations’ needs.
Local volunteering opportunities:
Our stroke community in Sheffield is ever growing and volunteering is a great way to get involved. It gives you the opportunity to become part of a network of volunteers who support and share learning. Many of our volunteers have either had a stroke themselves or have supported a family member or friend who has had a stroke. Volunteering gives them the chance to support other people affected by stroke.
