Aston Church Choir

Summary
We are a good quality church choir of around 15-20, mixed and of all ages (10-70!), currently looking for new members male or female. We sing Sunday services and some paid weddings. If you enjoy good sacred choral music then this choir is for you!

Description

Aston All Saint's church (CofE) is lucky to have a decent quality robed choir who enjoy having fun singing good quality church music of all types, ancient and modern. The choir sings on 3 Sunday mornings of the months, one evensong and the odd wedding or festival service. We also like to travel around the Sheffield/Rotherham/North Notts area singing evensongs in other churches and sometimes jointly with other choirs.

We are Directed by a professional musician who also runs a large male voice choir and a ladies choir in Nottingham and we enjoy the challenge of learning quality music in order to sing it on a Sunday, this includes anthems, psalms, hymns and songs. We also do the odd fun concert often with none sacred music. If you are looking for a small but decent, friendly but challenging choir to join then this might be just the ticket.

Join us any Thursday evening from 7pm-8:30pm (except during August when we break) at the church (using the rear door into the church extension) and come and give us a go. You will be made very welcome at any age, any ability and any experience level, you will be supported and helped all are most welcome! Contact our Director of Music Mr Ian Watts for further information or discuss any aspect of our wonderful choir.

Notes

All Saints Aston is a beautiful early medieval church building, the oldest building in Aston standing next to Aston Hall. People love our building because of its sense of peace – the stones are soaked with the prayers that have been said here for a thousand years.  The Victorian stained glass window behind the altar tells the story of Christ’s resurrection on Easter morning. All the other windows in the church are plain glass, and that means that the building is pleasantly light all the year through.

It stands in a peaceful churchyard, and adjoining the church is our narthex room which we use for children’s activities, for coffee morning after the church service and for other social gatherings.
The Narthex church room is also available for hire

The church building is small – it seats a maximum of 120 people.  Its small size creates a sense of warmth and intimacy, which is one of the things people enjoy about the church. We have a fine 2 manual Eminent digital organ.

Twice a month (2nd and 4th Sundays), we celebrate Holy Communion at the altar – this stone altar is said to pre-date the Norman Conquest! On the other two Sundays we have a Morning Worship (3rd Sunday) and All Age Worship (1st Sunday).

All are welcome at Aston All Saints Church!
