Women only singing group. The group is open to adults of any singing ability who are experiencing mental health challenges
SAGE Greenfingers is a grassroots mental health charity working in Burngreave. We offer a range of friendly, supportive, and creative Arts activities to adults living with mental health difficulties. We run a women's singing group which meets on Mondays in term-time between 12.30 - 2.30pm, with a refreshment break in the middle. All sessions take place at the Welcome Centre, Burngreave, Sheffield. There is a suggested donation of £2 per session, however please talk to us if you can't pay this amount as we don't want it to stop you from joining us. The group is very supportive and we have a laugh together too!
All songs are taught by ear so there's no need to read music. Some people tell us they can't sing, but we believe that everyone with a voice can sing and benefit from this lovely activity. In the sessions women sing together and report enhanced wellbeing as a result. We monitor wellbeing at the beginning and end of term, and have been celebrating the end of term with small 'performances' to local community groups as well as going on a trip together, for example we have gone to The Abbeyfield Industrial Hamlet, to a 'Spitewinter' Christmas Concert and for a picnic at Forge Dam. Some financial support is offered for the trips.
