A Tenants and Residents Association (TARA), is an unincorporated organisation of the tenants and residents within a defined area who represent their Levy Payers on Housing matters and other matters of concern in their community. They also take forward projects to improve well-being.


Description

Brushes Tenants and Residents Association represents the interests of local tenants and residents. The TARA hosts a drop-in twice a week were housing services and local councillor can be invited, to discuss what is going well, what can be improved and what help is available. 

Brushes TARA promotes a better relationship with Sheffield City Council Housing Services and the tenants in the area. it campaigns on issues to benefit the community such as housing issues or the environmental matters affecting the estate. The TARA works together to improve the physical conditions of where you live, campaigns for better facilities to create or improve the sense of the community.

Session Information
Walkabouts take place every 3 months on 30 October, 29 January and 29 April which starts from 1pm on-wards and meet at the Harry Harpham Community Centre. This is to have a look at the estate and see matters arising on environmental issues. Estate officers, councillors and the police are invited so any issues can be raised to the TARA.
Community Fund: the TARA has been successful in acquiring funding for projects in the area, a defibrillator is now situated outside the library and an accredited 1st aid course was taken. A well attended cookery session has been held where a free recipe bag was provided to take away. A further session is planned and will commence 17th September for 6 weeks 1-3pm at Harry Harpham community centre. please come along, it is free to attend.
The TARA also holds 2 trips every year, tickets will be advertised once date is decided.
