Summary
Mermaids are passionate about supporting children, young people, and their families to achieve a happier life in the face of great adversity. We work to raise awareness about gender nonconformity in children and young people amongst professionals and the general public. We campaign for the recognition of gender dysphoria in young people and call for improvements in professional services.


Description

Mermaids is a support group for gender variant children, teenagers and their families.  The goal is to relieve the mental and emotional stress of all persons up to their 20th birthday who are in any manner affected by gender identity issues by providing support and friendship.

Mermaids also support families of gender variant young people and works to advance public education in the same. Mermaids works with schools, colleges, mental health workers and other professionals and can provide in house training.

The phone line is open Monday - Friday, 9.00am until 9.00pm. Bank Holiday opening times may vary, voicemail available.
