I-decide is a social enterprise that provides personalised, community-inclusive support solutions for individuals with a support need including older people, people with physical and/or sensory impairment, people with learning disabilities and people with mental health issues.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of the charity Deafblind UK, which has been at the forefront of supporting people with a sight and hearing loss for more than 80 years, we offer specialist knowledge and an understanding of sensory impairments as well as disabilities across the spectrum. Launched in 2012, I-decide is part-funded by the Department of Health’s Innovation, Excellence and Strategic development fund 2012.
I-decide believes that truly personalised services, shaped and tailored to meet the needs, wishes and aspirations of the individual, can only occur when that person is at the centre of planning and designing their own support plan. It is essential to have lifestyle choices and aspirations and i-decide helps individuals to retain control and ownership of their support package. An expert Support Planning and Brokerage team provides advice and support at every stage of the process using all types of communication methods to meet the individual’s needs. We aim to educate customers to ensure the sustainability of Direct Payments and Personal Budgets for the long-term.
I-decide provides an accessible service for all that is customer-oriented, outcome-focused and delivers value for money. We are committed to engaging with the local community as an important means to improve the lives of customers and help to maximise their budgets.
Surplus created by I-decide is reinvested back into the social enterprise, or endowed back to Deafblind UK enabling the continuation of the charitable objectives.

Employing a Personal Assistant (PA):
If you choose to employ and recruit your own Personal Assistants (PAs) you may need support. I-decide's team of experts offer vast experience of recruiting in the social care sector and can ensure that the process is simple and efficient whilst allowing you to retain full control. I-decide will work with you to appoint exactly the right people and turn your support plan into a reality. By working with I-decide, you will gain the skills needed to become the best employer possible and you will be enabled to take on more of the planning in the future. I-decide will always work to find innovative ways to make your money go further.
Supporting you in employing a PA, I-decide will help you:
• draw up a contract of employment, job descriptions and person specifications
• advertise your vacancy
• PA matching
• with interviews and job offers
• employment checks
• DBS checks (additional charge)
• training and probationary periods
The Payroll Service operates a four weekly pay cycle. Alternative pay cycles are available on request, please note this will incur additional charges.
I-decide can provide a telephone clocking in system (freephone number) which allows your Personal Assistant to clock in and out with out the hassle of a timesheet. This is free when operated from a land line.
Payroll set up fee: £50 one off cost
Payslips: £6-8 inc VAT per pay slip. NB. If employing more than one Personal Assistant, a discounted price of £5-7 is available
Annual service fee (including workplace pension auto-enrolemt): From £180
Managed Account Service
I-decide operate managed accounts for individuals unable to manage their own Direct Payment funds. This allows you to retain flexibility and independence and still decide how your Direct Payment can be spent to benefit you most.
I-decide can collect your Direct Payment from your Local Authority and any contributions from you or a third party.
