Eligibility criteria for your service and any priority groups 
  • We contact MAST or any other service such as speech and language therapists if needing support or advice
  • We complete ESCAL (Every Sheffield Child  a Learner) trackers and Locke and Beech  development profiles
  • We offer settling in sessions before children start in our nursery
  • Parents complete `All About Me’ books about their children’s routines, development, likes and dislikes. This information is shared with the child`s key person
  •  When children are about to make the transition from nursery to school we complete transition documents for the school which includes information about the child’s development and interests
  • Children make their own transition bag to take to school. The bag includes pictures the child had drawn and photographs they like. They can discuss the pictures with their new teacher and peers.

At the moment we have we have a waiting list for two year old room.

  •  An average class size is -

 19 pre-school,

9 in the toddler room

9 in the baby room.

Staffing arrangements details 
  • We evaluate the effectiveness of the provision through reviewing policies, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) briefings and Focus Improvement Plans
  •  Individual Educational Plans ( IEPs) and Every Sheffield Child a Learner (ESCAL) audits are also used
  • We support children’s social and emotional wellbeing through reassurance, key person system and family photo books
  • We use books, jigsaws and discussions to help children to be aware of disabilities
  • We use encouragement and offer opportunities for children to engage with their peers
  • We support children during unstructured periods through interacting with the children and Visual Aids.
Staff training to support children/young people with SEND 
  • Different practitioners have received Makaton training, Communication in Print training, ESCAL Training, Hearing Aid training, SENCO training , Autism awareness , PECs training and First Aid.
  • Staff are trained to administrate medicines, feeding and provide personal care
