Lansdowne Tenants and Residents Association (TARA) is a group of volunteers whose aim is to provide a collective voice for all residents, benefit the whole community through social activities, improve the environment and well-being of the area and liaise with relevant authorities on tenants and residents issues.
Lansdowne TARA is based at the Lansdowne Meeting Rooms, 206 Club Garden Road, S11 8BX. We are a group of residents who volunteer to run the TARA, any resident can become a member and/or volunteer their time to help improve their neighbourhood. All activities and resources we provide are open to all residents to access via membership of the TARA. Sheffield Council tenants are automatic members of the TARA via the 10p levy fee included in their weekly rent. Private tenants, leaseholders and homeowners who reside within the TARA boundary can become members by paying a £5 annual membership fee. The TARA boundary is the Lansdowne Estate comprising off Cliff St, Mount St, Cemetary Rd, Sharrow Lane, Washington Rd and Club Garden Rd and the surrounding residential streets comprising of Hobart St, Salmon St and Sharrow St.
As a TARA an important part of what we do is helping tenants with housing-related issues and providing a collective voice on matters that are a concern for many residents. We also liaise with Sheffield City Council on matters of housing and the communal areas on the estate. We hold a weekly gardening group on Thursdays 1-3pm and a monthly Drop In on the 1st Tuesday of the month 1:30-3pm. We also provide an annual seaside trip and have other social events throughout the year.
