HERB (Helping Environmental Regeneration in Broomhall)

Summary
HERB aims to improve the external environment of the older part of Broomhall for local residents and those passing through the area as well as for wildlife. This is basically a street-gardening community project.


Description

Herb is a voluntary organisation which aims to improve and enhance the loacl environment in the Broomhall area for people and wildlife.

Activities include:

  • maintaining containers on the pavement extensions created as part of the residents parking scheme in the streets of Broomhall;
  • maintaining a community garden alongside the Broomhall Centre, Broomspring Lane;
  • regularly replanting with flowers and watering hanging baskets from some old lamposts installed on 2 of the green spaces in Broomhall;
  • maintaining and developing the community orchards and green spaces on the corner of Holberry Gardens and Havelock Street, at Filey Lane and between Gloucester and Dorset Streets as well as the green space at the corner of Broomspring Lane and Havelock Street.
