We offer a wide range of help and advice on all housing and homelessness issues. We have a team of advisers and solicitors who may be able to help you with your problem – and if we can’t help, we work with other agencies who can. We have computers and telephones you can use to access the internet for advice, claim benefits, or bid on properties.
Shelter Hub Services offers a variety of housing support and advice services to people who live in Sheffield.
Shelter's Advice Service offers initial advice, casework and legal representation on housing and debt issues, including housing rights, homelessness, rent/mortgage arrears. possession action, disrepair and harassment. It can also offer advice on debt, budgeting, bailiffs and bankruptcy. The team offer advice and legal representation in court for those that may be facing court action. Shelter's Legal team and solicitors will determine if a case qualifies for Legal Aid, or, if not, what the best fee arrangement for the client will be. The Service is open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, and operates drop in sessions on Tuesdays 9.30am-12.30pm and Thursdays 1.30pm-4.30pm.
Shelter's Housing Support Services offer ongoing housing and tenancy to people facing housing issues in the Sheffield area. Clients are offered a support worker to assist them with their housing issues with the aim of maintaining a tenancy or avoiding eviction. Support is offered for different lengths of time, dependent on the client's needs.
The Homeless Prevention Service offers support citywide to any household/tenure where there is a risk of homelessness, and where the service can reduce or remove that risk. The Resettlement Service offers support to any household who are resettling into a new property and require support to set up and maintain that property. The service runs drop in sessions on Mondays and Fridays from 10am to 1pm, and on Wednesdays from 1pm to 4pm, at the Hub offices, where anyone can speak to a support worker about resettlement or homeless prevention issues.
