Mums in Need offers support for mums who have left mentally abusive relationships. The aim of the support is to help mums to feel more confident and in control of their situation and gain an understanding of exactly what you can do to help yourself and your children. MIN can provide you with the life skills you need so you can overcome your fears and find a way through the abuse.
MIN are understanding, caring and have become experts in the field of emotional abuse. We have a great deal of experience, knowledge and understanding about emotional abuse in relationships, as well as having an understanding of how you navigate your way through the family justice system.
The main core support services, team advice, and support are provided by qualified professionals including x 2 mental health nurses. Our CEO, Laura Riley, is an RMN who of 12 years and has a lot of experience in dealing with a wide range of people's needs. She has been through the family courts herself and understands how difficult it is to navigate yourself through this process and also how stressful it can be. She can offer sound and sensible advice during this difficult time.
Advice and support includes:
- Group Peer Support
- Coffee Mornings
- Referrals to law firms including McKenzie friends
- Infomation & Guidance on Financial matters
- Support Sessions including meditation, yoga, pamper sessions, craft sessions
We ask for a one-off £5 registration fee at the point of assessment. There aren't any charges for these services but we do ask for £3 donation per support session to cover basic travel and admin expenses for those providing the services.
Criteria for referral into our service:
- Must be a mum, separated from an abusive relationship
- Aged 18+
- Motivation to re-build life
