This service provides support to family members of currently serving and reservist military personnel.
At Sheffield Mind we know that it can be difficult to cope with the uncertainty of having family members away from home for lengthy periods and equally hard adapting when they return. If you are having difficulty coping with the extraordinary demands of living in this environment, we can help and our therapists are on hand to provide emotional support and practical advice to help you cope more effectively.
We offer free counselling to anyone who has a family member currently serving in the military including reservist family members. This includes partners, parents, siblings and children over the age of 18. Counselling involves weekly 50 minute sessions where you can talk about your life and experiences whether they are current or in the past. This will enable you to explore feelings, thoughts, emotions and relationships with someone who is not involved, is non-judgemental, and is empathetic.
We also host a monthly support group for family members of currently serving, reservist and veteran. This is a space to meet others in a similar situation as you and speak to people who understand any difficulties you may be struggling with.
Please note this service is confidential, neither your serving military family member or military personnel will be told you are accessing the service.
