Landmarks Specialist College

Summary
Landmarks is a Specialist Independent College for people with learning difficulties and disabilities.

Description

We offer highly specialist education and support for learners who have a variety of additional needs. As a result each learner follows a unique programme of study, aimed at preparing them for life beyond college. Landmarks has a proud reputation of supporting learners onto positive outcomes (relative to their aspirations), be that; employment, higher education and or including, day services. We have an integrated Speech and Language and Occupational therapy team who work closely with staff, learners and their families to ensure maximum impact from studying at Landmarks. Landmarks works across the East Midlands, South Yorkshire and beyond, taking education into our learners home communities, to either secure employment, navigate the local shops or join meaningful lifelong activities such as; gyms, clubs and activity centres. There are no typical Pathways, just the one that suits you!  We offer:-

Community Based Learning & Development - has been designed for learners who find the traditional notion of college difficult and who, by their very specific additional needs require support and tuition to begin in surroundings which are familiar.  This could be within the learners home or out in the learners local community.  We use a flexible, agreed approach to promoting independence, community access, working with others and developing trust.

Life Skills - This is designed for learners who have complex additional needs and who require intensive, specialist education and therapy to support development and consolidation of effective communication and behaviour strategies. Pathways are delivered at a range of levels from Pre-Entry/Sensory through to Level 2

Further Education – This pathway develops learners' practical skills and knowledge in preparation for supported or independent living, further education or employment. Each pathway is tailored to help each learner make as much progress as possible towards achieving their long term life goals.  Qualification levels range from Entry Level 1 to Level 2.

Employability – This pathway is suited to those wishing to explore employment opportunities, including supported and voluntary employment. The duration of this pathway can be for a maximum of two academic years.  Learners work 2 days a week with an employer, supported by a Job Coach, and 1 day per week within college consolidating and extending learning.

Work Based Learning - This pathway is suited to learners who are at the point where they are ready for engaging in employment activities, who do not like accessing a college or classroom environment.  We prepare learners for employment by offering them opportunities to develop work-based skills, abilities and competences.  Learners will undertake Work Based Learning at an employers premises for 3 days per week, supported by one of our Job Coaches and monitored by their Pastoral Tutor.

Lifelong Learning programme is a fun, engaging and sociable offer that aims to help participants consolidate essential life skills. This programme can either form part or all of your time at Landmarks. Our Lifelong Learning programme is a day service offered to adults 16+, offering a wide range of activities.
