Growtheatre Youth Theatre develops theatre inspired by the environment and landscape to bring about a greater sense of community and belonging.
We combine theatre and outdoor skills by working with a range of partners including rangers, green woodworkers, conservationists, musicians and designers.

Youth Theatre: Develop acting and performance skills with professional theatre directors. Learn practical outdoor making skills with experts. Uncover stories in the landscape. Design and make outdoor theatre sets and props. Gain confidence and independence and make new friends. Be part of a unique, creative adventure.

We run 3 groups on Thursday evenings in term time:

Juniors (School Years 3 & 4) 5.00pm - 6.00pm

Intermediates (School Years 5, 6 and 7) 6.05pm - 7.35pm

Seniors (School Year 8 +) 7.40pm - 9.10pm

During the course of each year, youth theatre members will work towards making a piece of vibrant outdoor theatre that will be performed in an outdoor location in Sheffield. Growtheatre’s ethos is to bring theatre and the outdoors together to develop the whole child.

Throughout the year members will:

• Meet new friends.

• Improve their self-esteem.

• Develop independent thinking.

• Learn to communicate confidently.

• Learn skills from wood workers and rangers.

• Develop sensational acting and performance skills.

• Contribute to the whole creative process e.g. performance, script writing, set/prop design and building, costume and makeup and special effects.
