Knights in Battle Medieval Society

Knights in Battle Medieval Society is a medieval re-enactment group. We portrays the 13th and 15th centuries in foot combat tournaments, living history shows and battle re-enactments. We do these at various sites throughout the summer (and occasionally other seasons!), and we also do History Days at schools. We have weekly indoor combat training which is also a social environment - get to know people around the edges of the fighting floor. We are part of the Wars of the Roses Federation so we join together with hundreds of other re-enactors for major battle re-enactments, including the Battles of Bosworth and Tewkesbury.

Particular interests are medieval cookery and combat. Available for hire for shows, weddings etc. All welcome, although only those aged 8 years and over can learn medieval combat techniques, and those aged 15 years and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

Meets in S11 (Wednesday).

Inclusion Information

Wheelchair Access
Wheelchair access details
The practice hall is wheelchair accessible, but the nature of medieval re-enactment means that wheelchairs would not be appropriate at our shows and battles as they would be historically inaccurate. The venues are also unsuitable, mostly being open fields or unadapted historical venues (castles or manor houses).

Other Details

We portray part of the household of John Howard, Duke of Norfolk, during the Wars of the Roses (1455-85) for our 15th century shows and battles, and knights of King John (1198-1216) in our foot tournament. This means that we only portray parts of English and Western European history, not that from further abroad. However, people from other cultures are welcome to join us - some parts of England in the Middle Ages contained a more racially diverse society than most people expect.
