Community Wellbeing Programme

Sheffield City Council’s Community Wellbeing Programme (CWP) works to make Sheffield a healthier place. The Programme and has been developed in partnership with local people with activities provided through voluntary sector organisations. It operates in the following neighbourhoods:

  • Broomhall (Ship Shape)
  • Burngreave and Firvale (SOAR)
  • City Centre (Ship Shape)
  • Darnall, Tinsley and Acres Hill (Darnall Wellbeing)
  • Flower, Shiregreen, Stubbin and Brushes (SOAR)
  • Gleadless Valley (Gleadless Valley Forum)
  • High Green (SOAR)
  • Lowedges, Batemoor and Jordanthorpe (The Terminus)
  • Manor, Park, Woodthorpe and Wybourn (Manor Castle Development Trust)
  • Netherthorpe, Upperthorpe and Langsett
  • Norfolk Park and Arbourthorne (Manor Castle Dev
  • Parson Cross, Longley, Foxhill, Southey Green and Shirecliffe
  • Sharrow and Highfield
  • Winn Gardens
  • Woodhouse, Westfield and Hackenthorpe (Woodhouse and District Community Forum)

The programme focuses on interventions to increase access to services and to tackle the issues which underpin many health problems. It builds on the skills which already exist in these communities.

There are also many activities to support people to improve their health. These include:

  • Advocacy work
  • Social prescribing
  • Healthy walks
  • Eating on a budget
  • Community allotments
  • Diabetes support workers
  • Cook and eat
  • CAB advice in primary care
  • Community stop smoking workers
