WEA – Confidence to Succeed Deaf ICT

Description

This course aims to provide Deaf learners the skills to develop online video media in British Sign Language (BSL) using smartphones and tablets.

For Deaf people, British Sign Language (BSL) is their first language. BSL is a visual language and it has no written format. The present internet technology gives them an opportunity to record their BSL onto media and pass BSL messages to their families, friends and organisations via online.

More critically, Deaf people shall be able to pass comments, complaints and compliments in BSL to organisations online the same way as the hearing counterparts in English in different means, ie by letters, emails and telephone messages.

By the Equality Act (2010), organisations would have to respond in return in BSL. Deaf people will then be active participants in Society.
