      Hutchinson Deafblind Trust

      Sylvia Hutchinson from Huddersfield spent years trying to develop services for her son, John, who was deafblind. She recognised the unique need of those with a combined vision and hearing loss and the challenges faced by their families. It was her wish that the proceeds of her estate be used to help others in Yorkshire who find themselves in the same situation. The charity was registered in 2009 by a small group of dedicated Trustees who wish to honour Sylvia’s wishes by raising awareness of and supporting those who are deafblind and their carers.

I have known BSL all my life as my parents are both deaf. I offer support in all areas these include cooking, cleaning, shopping, transport, attending appointments, personal care if required.

      Sheffield Royal Blind Society - COFFEE MORNINGS

      Wednesdays - 10 till 3
      We provide opportunity's, support, friendship and services to blind and partially sighted people in Sheffield, helping them to achieve whatever they wish to do and whatever they aspire to be. We mainly support visually impaired individuals but are open for careers and any other individuals with other disabilities within the Firth Park Community.

      South Yorkshire Service for Deaf People with Mental Health Needs

      The service is part of the NHS and works in conjunction with Mental Health Teams in South Yorkshire to assess and support the needs of deaf people with secondary mental health needs who are British Sign Language users. The service will also provide consultation to teams in relation to deaf people who do not sign but may have complex communication needs, possibly due to their mental health.
