Shared Lives Plus is a National Organisation. Sheffield has its own scheme called Shared Lives Sheffield which is run by staff working for the Local Authority. The principle of Shared Lives is that individuals with support needs are supported to have daycare, a short break or live in placement with self-employed carers in their own homes ensuring they are part of the carer's family.
The project works with family carers over 55 of people with a learning disability and or Autism. Our particular focus is to keep in touch and help families to create emergency plans and to support them to think about the future and longer term plans.
