A WEA course designed to provide Deaf students with strategies to solve maths problems and work towards studying for a nationally accredited qualification through the medium of British Sign Language (BSL).
Are you Deaf? Do you use BSL? Do you want to improve your numbers and money skills?
BSL will be used throughout with a Deaf tutor.
The course is intended for Deaf people who have not achieved Level 2 Numeracy and are BSL users. The aim is for students to develop mathematical knowledge, skills and strategies to use when solving maths problems.
New students to the course will carry out initial assessments which will indicate the level at which they are working. All students will carry out diagnostic tests to identify their areas of strength and the areas that need to be developed.
You will work towards group and individual goals. The individual goals will focus on areas that have been highlighted in your diagnostic assessment. All goals will be monitored and assessed throughout the course and you will be given regular feedback on your progress.
