Provides a free independent advocacy service for disabled adults living in Sheffield who have issues relating to health or social care.
Disability Sheffield, Centre For Independent Living - Advocacy Service provides a free independent advocacy service for disabled adults living in Sheffield who have issues relating to health or social care. They provide help with challenging services to be more responsive to users' needs, which can be difficult or overwhelming without some help. The service is part of the Advocacy Hub in Sheffield.
The advocacy team is experienced in working with disabled adults and can help support people to try and make changes and improve access to health and social care. We also have an advocate who is fluent in British Sign Language and able to work with people from the deaf community. Once a referral has been received one of the advocates will contact you to discuss your needs and if they fall within the remit of Disability Sheffield will arrange an appropriate meeting time. Meetings can be arranged in people's own homes as necessary.
The service has been awarded the Advocacy Quality Performance Mark for the period December 2018 to November 2021.
