Crosspool Women's Institute (CWI)

Crosspool Women's Institute (CWI) (founded March 2012) offers opportunities to make friends in a happy social atmosphere, get involved with the local community, hear interesting speakers and enjoy outings and activities.

CWI offers a range of extra groups to allow people to socialise over their favourite things which include Purly Queens knitting and crochet group, book group, lunch group, supper club, walking group and occasional theatre and coach trips.

We are part of the South Yorkshire Federation of Women's Institutes (SYFWI) and the National Federation of Women's Institutes (NFWI).  As a member of CWI, people belong to SYFWI and NWI and can access activities, trips offered by SYFWI and a wide range of online educational courses provided by NFWI.

Annual Membership of CWI for 2025 is £51 (renewable 1st April 2026).   New members joining the WI for the first time will pay a pro-rata rate depending in which quarter of the year they join.  We are open to new and returning members and visitors are always welcome.  Visitors can attend for up to three meetings before being invited to join. Visitors will be invited to donate an entrance fee.

The group meets twice a month at two different venues:  St Columba's Church, Manchester Road, S10 5PL (3rd Monday in the month, 7.30pm-9pm) and Stephen Hill Methodist Church, Manchester Road, S10 5PL (4th Monday in the month, 1pm-3pm).  Crosspool WI members and visitors can attend either or both meetings each month, covered by their membership fee.
