Multiply Sheffield

Multiply is part of the Skills for Life government initiative. Good numeracy skills can unlock job opportunities and lead to higher wages or prepare you for further study.

In Sheffield we have teamed up with different stakeholders to offer a number of numeracy workshops & courses in the community.

The Multiply programme in Sheffield is led by the FACES team at Sheffield City Council and funded by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. Multiply courses and workshops are commissioned by the council and delivered by trusted partner organisations at local venues across the city.

We offer a range of courses and workshops on themes such as household finances, cooking on a budget or improving numeracy skills specific to a key sector or line of work. Here are some examples:

Preparation for work
Numeracy skills for those who are seeking to move into jobs in childcare, retail and warehousing.

Cooking on a budget
Helping individuals to address the Cost of Living crisis covering one pot meals to feed families and energy efficient cooking methods.

Make the numbers work
A numeracy themed employability programme which aims to help people who struggle with
numbers in everyday life such as with personal finances.

Money on my mind
This course focuses on everyday costs of living looking at how to make the most of your money and resources.

My energy (costs)
This course looks at the increased costs around energy,how to understand utility bills and practical ways of reducing costs in the home.

My green world
Focuses on the environment,raising awareness about waste, recycling and climate change.

Numeracy for me (ESOL)
For ESOL learners overcoming barriers to mathematical language that makes it difficult for them to access maths provision.

The Multiply programme in Sheffield is delivered by Sheffield City Council and is funded by the UK Government through the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA).
