Welcome Places
Sheffield Welcome Places are something we can all feel proud of. Across the city, these spaces are quietly changing lives every day. There’s a mix of Council, community and volunteer run facilities which provide a variety of services and support to those in need whatever their circumstances maybe. A Welcome Place is any publicly accessible place that provides a warm welcome and support. As part of the city’s response to the cost-of-living, employability access and community cohesion, we have created a map of Welcome Places. Many of these will be on the Sheffield Welcome Places map, but places don’t need to be on the map to be considered a Welcome Place. Some organisations may also choose to register separately for other national ‘warm spaces’ schemes.
These friendly, safe, supportive places offer a hot drink, information and signposting to local services, food support, digital support, wellbeing support, access to a range of activities and opportunity to connect with the local community.
What makes Welcome Places special are the people behind them, community groups, volunteers and local partners who give their time, care and energy to make sure no one feels alone or forgotten.
