ACTIVITIES

All our activities are child-centred, allowing the children to choose the activity in which they would prefer to participate. All staff have enhanced CRB checks and are qualified in childcare. Our qualified supervision is at a ratio of at least 1:8 at all times.

Every day the children have access to a minimum of six different activities that match the EYFS framework. These include arts and crafts, board games and jigsaws, role play, construction kits, reading in the quiet corner, physical activity with sports equipment, table tennis, table football and pool. The children also enjoy using the Nintendo Wii and in some cases computers (use of the computer is always supervised AND time limited).

Afterschool Club

The Afterschool Club is an opportunity for the children to enjoy free play and relax after their lessons. The activities are planned and structured but children have the opportunity to choose from the range of activities on offer, these can vary from one day to the next but children who attend regularly can have the opportunity to continue a project, picking up where they left off the day before. Typically children can expect to be offered an opportunity to enjoy arts and crafts, regular cooking and baking activities, sports sessions on the school field, the use of construction toys, board games, imaginative roll play and a quiet 'chill area'. Some children simply want to flop after a hectic day at school and they sometimes enjoy creating a 'den' with rugs and sheets where they can read or chat. After School is a great time for children to benefit from social interaction with their friends.
The children are given a healthy light snack which, whenever possible, they prepare themselves. This is an ideal way to help the children really consider what they are eating and just how long it takes to prepare a meal. We also find children will often try something new, when they have previously declared 'I don't like that', purely because they have been involved in preparing it.
