Firshill Rise
Firshill Rise provides inpatient accommodation and support for adults with a learning disability whose behaviour or mental health is complex or challenging.
Our multidisciplinary team work closely with families and carers to provide the very best care and support to our service users.
We provide support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All of the support and specialist medical input we provide is underpinned by the Positive Behavioural Support approach, and is delivered in line with national best practice and NICE guidelines.
At Firshill Rise we support our service users to achieve the best quality of life they can by helping them learn new skills, get involved in the local community and ultimately lead fun and interesting lives.
We plan for discharge from day one. We understand that a hospital is not a home and that everything we do is aimed at supporting a positive community based outcome for the people we serve.
We believe in positive and proactive support. Our care plans focus on actively supporting service users and their care team to develop strategies that increase their wellbeing and decrease risk.
Opened in 2013, Firshill Rise was purpose built to provide the best possible environment to support adults with learning disabilities.
There are seven inpatient beds at Firshill Rise, which provide privacy and dignity for service users and their families. All of the rooms are en-suite and have access to garden areas.
One of the rooms is a self-contained flat which is used for step-up or step-down care, and is used to promote and enable independent living.
The ward also has one green room which is used to support service users to de-escalate and calm away from communal areas.
Lastly there is a seclusion room which is only ever used in line with the Mental Health Act code of practice as a last resort in cases of extreme risk to others.
The building is fully accessible, with wheelchair access throughout, changing rooms as well as fixed and mobile hoists and other specialist equipment to support our residents.
As well as our accommodation we also have a range of facilities our service users can make use of, including:
- Comfortable lounge
- Quiet areas
- Sensory room
- Activities of Daily Living (ADL) kitchen
- Multi-faith room
- Fitness room
- Activities room
- Green room for calming and de-escalation
- Spacious interactive garden and outdoor areas
We accept referrals from the Community Learning Disability Team, GPs and primary or secondary healthcare professionals
We also accept self-referrals or referrals made on behalf of a service user by a carer or family member.
