The Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Department (Ryegate Children's Centre)
The Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Department is based in the Therapy Block at Ryegate Children's Centre.
A range of other services are also provided at the site including multidisciplinary assessment and management of children with special needs.The centre can offer information and advice to parents / carers of children who attend the Ryegate Centre about ADHD, Autism and other disabilities.
The Centre includes a respite facility for children with complex medical needs and also an Assessment Centre, from which the child development, neurology and neurodisability outpatients are delivered, and multi-disciplinary assessments undertaken.
The Resource Centre houses the dual diagnosis team for sheffield outreach, the Gait laboratory, and is also used for parents groups, playgroups etc for children with special needs.
Families can also access The Child Disability Register (CDR) which is a service for children and young people with disabilities and their families in Sheffield.

- Arrangements to provide additional therapy, over and above what is provided by the NHS, may be possible if deemed appropriate via a personal budget or private funds.
- The Therapy Block at Ryegate provides a child-friendly environment, designed for children with disabilities. The waits for appointments are not long, and there are activities to keep children occupied in our waiting area if you arrive early for your appointment.
- If a child or young person is under the care of a physiotherapist or occupational therapist at Ryegate, the family should contact them directly to discuss their child’s care. All of our therapists and therapy assistants can be contacted via our reception on 0114 2717610.
- The child/young person’s GP, paediatrician, health visitor or school nurse may be able to help families decide whether or not they would benefit from our service. Alternatively, parents/carers can contact the service directly on the above numbers.
