Zest Centre - Health Activities

In addition to our swimming pool, gym, and fitness classes here at ZEST we also have services available to support you in achieving your health and wellbeing goals. We know it can be difficult or daunting to even know where to start, so we can help you break your goals down into small achievable steps.

Our team comprises of Social Prescribers, Health Service Coordinators, and Wellbeing & Mental health coaches. We run 1-1 sessions and group activities. We can signpost to other community services both at ZEST and elsewhere depending on your goals.

Mental health educational programme

Anxiety management
- a psycho-educational course of 7 weekly sessions which focus on understanding what happens to our body, how to challenge and evaluate our thoughts and recognising triggers. The course aims to help you to build confidence in the self-management of your anxiety and develop your own plan towards recovery.

The Managing Depression course is a psycho-educational course of 7 weekly sessions which focus on understanding symptoms and triggers of depression and what strategies can help improve low mood. The course aims to help you to build confidence in managing your mood and develop your own plan towards recovery.

Dementia Friendly Services

Our Dementia services cover the following areas: Netherthorpe, Upperthorpe, Walkley, Hillsborough, Middlewood, Wadsley, Loxley and Stannington.

Local  Dementia Support and Activities

Owls in Mind Sporting Memories Group (with Sheffield Wednesday Football Club). 
Wednesdays at Wednesday: Meet at reception, 2-3pm, SWFC, Hillsborough, Sheffield S6 1SW.
Join us to reminisce, replay and connect through the power of sport. We converse about all sports, not just football. Facilitated by ex-player John Pearson and run in conjunction with the club. Non-Wednesday fans welcome with open arms.

Dementia Friendly Social Dining Group
Every Thursday lunchtime: Meet at ZEST Library, 12-2pm, 18 Upperthorpe, S6 3NA. Join us to play board games, chat and enjoy a great value and delicious lunch from the FoodWorks cafe.

Dementia Training Sessions
Zest can also provide access to free training to help individuals and organisations gain a greater understanding of Dementia and what it is like to live with a Dementia. We currently offer the following:

Dementia Stars Training – Offered at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, these interactive sessions are 2 hours long and go into further detail about how Dementia affects the brain and about the barriers that people living with dementia encounter every day. Each level will provide participants with knowledge and skills to apply practically to their services and activities.
