Community Paediatricians provide out-patient Paediatric Services in community settings for children aged 0-16 years, working closely with Multi-agency Support Teams, Children’s Social Care, Schools & Nurseries, Local Education Authority, providers of Primary Care, Hospital Paediatric Services, CAMHS and Neuro-disability Services.
For further information families can contact anyone who is able to refer their child to us e.g. GP, Speech therapist, health visitor, school nurse Inclusion teams, Educational Psychologist, CAMHS, other Consultants and the Local Education Authority.
Eligibility criteria for your service and any priority groups
The service provides the following: :
Assessment and management of preschool children where there are concerns regarding their development.
Assessment of preschool children with behaviour problems where it is either associated with a developmental problem or it is felt that a medical assessment may contribute. Behaviour interventions are not offered but children signposted to appropriate services after assessment.
Assessment of school aged children with learning problems with or without associated behaviour problems where there may be concern regarding an underlying medical problem or concerns that a general health problem is impacting on their education and social function
Assessment of school aged children with motor coordination problems and onward referral to occupational therapy service where needed.
Provision of medical advice to the Local Education Authority for children undergoing statutory assessment of their special educational needs..
