Burton Street Foundation – Day Activities, Day Care & Day Opportunities
Burton Street Foundation, founded in 1998, in Sheffield welcomes over 2,500 visitors each week, host a kaleidoscope of events, provides jobs to around 140 individuals, and serves as a home base for 14 local businesses plus numerous charities and community groups. Spread across two sites, our four buildings, mainly in Hillsborough, have become a haven for creativity, learning, and empowerment. Our dedication to inclusivity and support for the disabled community shines through our disability services, aiding around 250 clients each week (Children and Adults).

Our learning disability services are designed to suit clients with needs ranging from moderate to those with profound and multiple disabilities in the following service offers:
Building Independence
Primarily designed to help clients with higher capacity to broaden their horizons and more fully integrate into their communities within and outside of Sheffield. We do this with exciting sessions, projects and events based at Burton Street and other locations. We focus on each persons strengths and empower clients to take on new challenges to help them to overcome traditional barriers that face adults with learning disabilities everywhere. Most importantly of all, we aim to help people take control of their lives and become happier and more fulfilled individuals.
Promoting Independence
Step into the heart of Promoting Independence, where our mission is steeped in kindness, empathy, and a deep sense of community focus. Engaging in a friendly atmosphere is the backdrop to client-led activities that prioritise choice, meaningful connections, and shared experiences. From health and wellbeing to creative arts, education, and social sessions, every offering is a celebration of diverse interests. Together, we break down barriers, collaborating within our community at Burton Street and beyond. Focussed Support
Our heartfelt commitment lies in providing nurturing group activities crafted for individuals with intricate communication and support needs. Embracing a warm and friendly atmosphere, our diverse range of engaging endeavours—from arts and crafts to music, sports, dance, and beyond—aims to foster self-confidence and empower self-expression. Rooted in empathy, our approach centres on strengthening relationships and enriching communication within our community. Our devoted team designs tailor-made sessions, ensuring each individual feels valued and included. Individual Support
Individual Support’s dedicated team takes a warm, caring approach to meeting your specialised needs. We’re here to provide personalised care that revolves around your unique strengths and attributes. Our focus isn’t just on support—it’s about fostering a sense of belonging within our community. With tailored 1:1 care plans, crafted in collaboration with you, your family and carers and all professionals in your life, we ensure a kind, empathetic approach that respects your preferences and promotes your well-being. This service is your safe space, allowing you to concentrate on self-care and nurturing your independence within a safe environment.
Complex Needs
The cornerstone of our Complex Needs service is a personalised and holistic approach that takes into account the individuality of each client. We understand that effective support goes beyond addressing immediate needs—it involves considering communication styles, sensory processing abilities, social differences, likes, and dislikes. By recognising and respecting these nuances, we create a tailored 1:1 service that ensures our clients gain the utmost enjoyment and satisfaction from their experiences at Burton Street.
Children + Young People's Service
CAYPS – Children and Young People’s Service, a heartwarming hub designed with your child’s joy in mind. Here, our team crafts a vibrant space within the newly refurbished Bamforth building. The Saturday Club, a treasure trove of activities, invites your child to explore and create at their own pace, whether it’s diving into sensory adventures or embracing the outdoors on our playground. Our Holiday Club takes the fun further, whisking kids on thrilling trips to places like Ethel Barge, Clifton Park, swimming, and the cinema. Join our close-knit community where kindness and empathy flourish, fostering an inclusive environment where every child thrives. At CAYPS, we’re not just a service; we’re dedicated to nurturing and celebrating each unique young spirit and supporting their families.
