Six weeks before children start at the nursery we arrange introduction visits where we invite the child and parent into the setting so we can discuss the child routines, share information about their development and discuss any specific requirements the child may need. Subsequent visits are then arranged for the child to spend time in the room to build relationships with their key person/team based in the room. As children move rooms phased visits are organised and the key person will accompany the child to pass on all the information about the child onto the new key person / team

• Our nursery is accessible for wheelchair uses, there is a ramp into the building and the nursery has a lift which accesses each floor
• We have a disabled toilet
• We use visual aids and visual timetables in all areas
• Staff are trained to use Makaton
• We have a Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) budget to cover resources and equipment required to support children’s individual needs
• We have a secure outdoor play area which is only accessible by staff
• Each room has a book/cosy area where children can go to for quiet time
• We have a separate room which parents or practitioners can access with small groups of children
