City Players at The Corner Playhouse
City Players Amateur Dramatic Society perform three shows a year at their own little theatre in Eckington. Productions run for two weeks. The Society has been running for over sixty years, and is proud of it's professional approach to amateur theatre.
The Corner Playhouse is a wonderful place, with a raked auditorium, seating an audience of 72. The bar is licensed to sell drinks for consumption on the premises during performances. There is now a digital sound and lighting system, with LED lights, and full speaker system for sound effects.
New members are always welcomed to the Society, in any capacity. You don't necessarily have to act, if preferred you can get involved backstage, with set building, general maintenance, front of house, and any other aspect of amateur theatre. Just come along and meet us. You may get hooked!
There are usually a few members at the theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings between about 09.30 and 12.30. They will be involved with set building and general maintenance of the theatre, but always welcome an opportunity to put the kettle on, and open the biscuits, so give them an excuse, and pop in any time the doors are open. They will be more than happy to show you round and discuss the Society. Please just come in and introduce yourself; you will always be made very welcome.
Members should be aged 18 years and over. A membership fee of £5 per year applies (this price is supplied by City Players, please check it yourself for accuracy).
Rehearsals are held at the theatre every Tuesday and Friday evening from 7.30pm to 10.00pm throughout the year.
Come along and introduce yourselves.
