Fitzwilliam Wine Club

We are a group of wine lovers who meet at Whiston Parish Hall on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, at 7.30 pm. Our aim is to taste and appreciate wines from all over the world.

We find that by getting together every month to pool our resources and taste a little of 6 or 7 wines, we can try more expensive wines to see what we like without risking the household budget on buying a whole bottle of each. Our tastings will usually follow a theme such as wines from a certain area, or comparisons of the same grape variety from different areas.

We have also featured a Members Choice evening, which is a lighthearted insight into what particular wines appeal to our members and why.

Presentations are enjoyed from local Wine Merchants, which are extremely interesting. So their is a mix of presenters,  ranging from professional,  to members , and fun themed evenings presenting and tasting wine throughout the year.

Throughout the year, the committee members review the tasting calendar, ensuring it is both relevant to the season and takes account of members suggestions. This keeps a fresh and appealing agenda for everyone.

We hope to encourage new members to come along and join us. The first visit is completely FREE as a taster session of what we offer, after that the  regular monthly cost is £8.00.

Members are asked to  bring their own wine glass, bottle of water and any snacks they would normally enjoy with a glass of wine . This can range from a few crackers and cheese, or some members coming straight from work bring fruit, sandwiches etc. It is all relaxed and enjoyable.

We hold an Annual dinner in October, on the third Tuesday.

Christmas Call My Bluff quiz ends the year in a party spirit.

Does this sound appealing, and you are over 21, then please give us a call via the Secretary. (Debbie)

We always look forward to seeing and meeting new faces and hope to make you feel welcome.
