Darnall Dementia Group provides day care for people with dementia and support for carers. Based in Darnall but a citywide service, the group is staffed by qualified workers and volunteers. The group offers a warm and friendly environment where people are respected and treated as individuals. Activities include chatting over cups of tea, reminiscence, physical activities, games, lots of music, singing, dancing and concerts. People are given the support they need in order to take part in their chosen activity, and they have the opportunity to talk through any fears or worries they may have.

Potential attendees are assessed at home and they and their carer are supported by regular visits until a place is available. Carers are welcome to attend the monthly afternoon and evening carer's groups facilitated by a qualified and experienced worker. Everyone involved in Darnall Dementia Group is encouraged to play a part in the life of the group, voice their opinion on how the service could be improved. Company limited by guarantee and registered charity.

The day centres take place at a church in Darnall, S9.

Prices:

Dementia Group day care is charged at a rate of £65 per day - this charge is payable to the local authority, not to Darnall Dementia Group.

Qualifications & Quality Standards:
All staff are CRB checked and include a qualified social worker. The group is a registered charity.
