This half-day session introduces practitioners to Sheffield’s new voice of the child Toolkit (yet to be named), created in partnership with the family relationship experts at Amity www.weareamity.co.uk.
This is a practical and evidence-informed toolkit designed to help children express how home, school and community relationships, family conflict or separation are affecting them using child-friendly communication strategies rooted in trauma-informed and relationship-based practice.
The training is suitable for anyone working directly with children, young people and families across Sheffield.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session, participants will:
• Develop greater confidence in exploring a child’s feelings, wishes and lived experience.
• Strengthen their skills in communicating with children using practical, child-friendly tools.
• Understand how family relationships and conflict can influence children’s emotional well-being.
• Learn approaches for engaging non-verbal children and those with SEND.
• Improve their ability to ask curious, unbiased questions that support good assessment.
• Know how to use the toolkit safely within local safeguarding pathways
