Join us for a special Play, Chat and Learn Together event in Sheffield Winter Garden.

About the event

Thursday 15th February & Friday 16th February 2024 (9:30am - 4:30pm) 

Sheffield Winter Garden, Surrey Street, Sheffield City Centre, S1 2LH

 

Activities throughout the day including;

  • Early Years story sessions.
  • Live music performances. 
  • Fun learning activities.
  • Appearances from 'Sunny the Bee!'

This free event is designed to connect you with local services to find out about how you can support your little one’s development. 

At the event will be; 

Mambo Jambo - might just be the biggest acoustic duo you’ll ever see; a truly unique two-piece, performing their lively, joyous mash-up of sounds from roots, world, folk and jazz, along with their own compositions.

Ideal for young children and their grown-ups, you can expect the Concerteenies magic with dancing, clapping, musical stories and singing along!

10am: Happy Feet! 
11am: Hats Off 
12midday: Oceans & pirates
1pm Musical story: Rainforest Adventure
2pm: Mambo Jambo's Mardi Gras Carnival!
3pm: Happy Feet! 

Sheffield Family Hub, Community Early Years Practitioners who take a lead in delivering the Making it REAL programme and Play, Chat and Learn workshops. Will be sharing and reading books, there will be an Environmental Print trail, opportunities to mark make and enjoy some singing and rhymes.

Family Learning - Make and decorate stars and lanterns, including Chinese and Persian styles. Then take them home and use them to decorate your little one's bedroom.

The craft activity will be available at the following times

  • 10.00am to 12.00pm
  • 1.00pm to 3.00pm

Sheffield Parent Hub – Chat to them about the seminars, discussion groups and programmes they offer and see how they can support you on your parenting journey.

Fay, Community Nursery Nurse (Sheffield Health Visiting Team) - Chat about how learning through play helps to support child development. Fay and the team are equipped to assist with various aspects of child development, including toilet training, sleep issues, speech development, behaviour, and more. (Thursday only) 

Sheffield Libraries - will be around to provide library information, read stories and support you to join your local library. Establishing a love of books and reading from an early age is extremely important in a child's development. Libraries are a wonderful place to introduce children to books and other materials.

Startwell Sheffield - will be sharing some top tips and information relating to good oral health and healthy teeth. They will be bringing giant teeth to practice teeth cleaning! The top tips will help create a good routine and build your child’s skills, which can last a lifetime.

Sheffield Family Hub, Infant Feeding Peer Support Team - An opportunity to find out more about infant feeding support in the City.
