Who we support and referral reason

We support children under 3 years 8 months old and are presenting with social communication difficulties. A diagnosis of Autism maybe be considered.

Please note that we look at the information on the referral to understand where help is needed.  It is not based on age.

How to refer, who is involved and who to contact

New referrals must come from a health professional such as:

  • GP
  • Ryegate consultant
  • speech and language therapy
  • Educational Psychologist
  • Early Years Inclusion Teacher

Schools cannot refer directly.  Parents must go to the GP to ask for a referral if no other health professional is already involved.

This clinical service can offer:

  • Assessment
  • Post diagnostic follow up with Consultant
  • Referral to parent workshops
    • Post diagnosis workshops
  • Additional workshops available where appropriate
    • Sensory processing
    • Emotional regulation
    • Social stories

The medical staff involved include:

  • Speech and Language Therapist
  • Clinical Psychologist
  • Paediatric Consultant
