Sheffield City Council, NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Sheffield Parent Carer Forum worked together to write a citywide Inclusion Strategy

It tells you how Sheffield will meet the needs of our children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

It explains Sheffield’s plans to address local challenges. It looks at 5 commitments covering the areas of:

  1. Assessment
  2. Provision
  3. Transition
  4. Communication
  5. The workforce

The strategy will be regularly reviewed and will last from 2020-2025.

Developing this strategy involved:

  • Focus groups with young people
  • Co-production sessions
  • Public consultation
  • The Parent Carer Forum’s State of Sheffield survey (over 700 responses)
