You can try these strategies at home to help your child.

Limit the amount of noise, light and movement (Sensory Stimuli) for the first hour your young person gets home. They will need some downtime, often to do their special interest.

Have they had a drink? Many young people can’t link the irritable feeling of thirst to needing a drink. Offer a drink and small snack.

Limit language.  We know as a parent you will want to know about the day.  Lots of questions could be too much to process if their mind is full.

Limit demands.  Please allow time for your young person to just be.  Especially before expecting clubs, supermarket trips, doing homework, doing chores or family visits.
