The Disability Access Fund (DAF) was introduced in April 2017.  This is funding given to childcare providers.  This helps childcare providers support 3 and 4 year olds with special educational needs and/or disabilities . The Disability Access Fund includes eligible 2 year olds until September 2023.

Funding is paid in a lump sum once each year.  The funding is £828 per eligible child.

How do I know if my child can get this funding?

2 year old children may get DAF if they meet the following:

  • They receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • They child receive Free Early Education places for 2 year olds

3 and 4 year old children may get DAF if they meet the following:

  • They receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • They receive universal or extended free early education and childcare entitlement.

Early years providers are responsible for identifying eligible children.  Make sure they know if your child gets DLA.
