Careers Advice - Transition Guide

Sheffield City Council Community Youth Services have an Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) Team.  They give careers advice for young people.

As part of this team, there are advisers who go to secondary special schools in Sheffield. They give careers advice for those young people who have an EHC plan from Year 9 to Year 14.

The schools’ advisers go to:

  • Bents Green
  • Talbot
  • Seven Hills
  • Holgate Meadows
  • Heritage Park

Advisers have a set amount of time.  They use this time to go to each school.  They work with the school to agree when they come in to talk to pupils during the school year.

The offer to schools can include:

  • attendance and input of personal careers guidance at EHC Plan annual review meetings. This is from Year 9 through to Year 14
  • personal careers guidance interviews
  • attendance at post-16/parents’ events
  • group work
  • drop-ins
